Five A-State Querétaro Student-Athletes Shine at the Inter-PARR Academies Invitational 2026
Five student-athletes from Arkansas State University Querétaro stood out at the Inter-PARR Academies Invitational 2026, helping their regional rugby teams secure the men’s championship and women’s runner-up title.
Dedication, teamwork, and a passion for sports can open doors to opportunities beyond the classroom. For five Arkansas State University Querétaro students, that opportunity came at the Inter-PARR Academies Invitational 2026, held in Dos Ríos, Huixquilucan, State of Mexico.
The tournament brought together promising young rugby players from across Mexico, along with international participants, creating an opportunity to compete at a high level, gain valuable experience, and continue developing their athletic careers.
Three Champions and Two Runners-Up in National Rugby
In the men’s M20 division, Jesús Sebastián Segovia Moncada, Marco Uriza Guajardo, and Ause Fernando Solís Ramos represented the Northeast regional team, helping secure the championship title after defeating the Oriente regional team 17-7 in the final.
Meanwhile, Itzia Ramírez Razo and Regina González Jurado competed with the Central regional team in the women’s M20 category. Their team earned the runner-up title after facing Canadian academy MacDowell Rugby in the final, which ended 17-0.
These achievements highlight the dedication, preparation, and teamwork of our student-athletes. Beyond the final scores, their participation reflects the importance of gaining competitive experience, overcoming challenges, and representing their teams with commitment and determination.
Their journey also shows younger students what is possible when they pursue interests beyond their coursework. By participating in national competitions, student-athletes develop confidence, build connections with other players, and bring new experiences back to their university community, inspiring others to explore their own potential.
A Competition That Opens Doors to High Performance
The Inter-PARR tournament is part of Rugby Mexico’s Regional High Performance Program (PARR), an initiative designed to identify, develop, and strengthen young rugby talent throughout the country.
The program brings together athletes from different regions, allowing them to compete against strong opponents while improving their technical abilities, teamwork, and understanding of the game.
An important objective is to align player development with the competitive system of Mexico’s national rugby teams, known as the Serpientes, helping prepare promising athletes for potential future opportunities in international competition.
For our five students, participating in this tournament meant more than competing for a title. It was an opportunity to learn from other athletes, experience a demanding sporting environment, and take another step toward their personal and athletic goals.
