Eighty-six received degrees at the spring commencement ceremony at Arkansas State University Querétaro. 

QUERÉTARO – Arkansas State University Querétaro held its spring Commencement Ceremony on May 16, 2026.   

Dra. Alexandra Strong, Chancellor of Elisia Education Hub, conferred 86 degrees to students from the university’s four colleges during the ceremony held at Campus Querétaro.  

Saira Novela addressed the audience on behalf of the graduating class. ” You cannot build a career by yourself, and you certainly cannot build a life without people who truly have your back. At the end of the day, that shared resilience and loyalty to one another is our true competitive advantage” said Ms. Saira Novela. 

Saira is graduating Magna Cum Laude, with a major in International Business and minors in Logistics and Entrepreneurship. She has been very active during her time at ASUQ. She was a French tutor; she helped plan and organize events like Wolf d’Or and Around the World fest. She also supported the organization of Career Week and participated in Business Week. 

We have 87 graduating seniors, which includes 12 seniors graduating with a double major, 33 are graduating with 1 minor, and 10 with a double minor. It also includes 33 distinguished undergraduate students with various academic honors, as identified by the white and red and gold honors cords.  We have 20 Cum Laude, 11 Magna Cum Laude, and 2 Summa Cum Laude. 

The selected winner for the Ricardo Gonzáles Valdés Award, presented annually for outstanding graduating seniors based on character, determination, involvement and academic achievement was Yara Lizeth Hernández Brito.  

Ms. Hernández Brito is graduating Summa Cum Laude, with a major in Mechanical Systems Engineering and minors in Mathematics and Management. She has been consistently listed on the chancellors list. She acted as leader of the team in charge of the first edition of the Engineering Week here at the university.  She is also an active member of the SWE, the Society of Women in Engineering, motivating, and encouraging young generations of women to pursue studies in engineering areas. On her professional life she has been working as an intern for GE Aerospace for almost two years now. Ms. Hernández Brito is planning on continuing her graduate studies by pursuing a Master´s degree in Electrical Engineering 

40% of our graduate students have secured employment or received job offers, and 51% are in the process of starting a master’s degree, a source of immense pride for our entire community.  

Once again, Arkansas State University Querétaro stands out for its academic excellence. New Red Wolves enter the world, ready to lead the pack! #WolvesUp
