Senior Day 2026: A Legacy That Remains at the Red Wolves

Senior Day Red Wolves

There are moments in college life that are remembered long after graduation. For our student-athletes, one of them is the last time they represent their team, share the field with their teammates, and wear the uniform that accompanied them through years of effort and dedication.

On October 24, 2026, Arkansas State University Querétaro celebrated Senior Day, a ceremony dedicated to recognizing the student-athletes of the representative Football and Cheer & Dance teams who are about to complete their university stage.

Accompanied by their families, coaches, teammates, and authorities, our Seniors celebrated the memories, lessons, and experiences that have been part of their history as Red Wolves.

A celebration of everything we’ve experienced

Being a student-athlete means learning to balance academic responsibilities with training, competitions, and athletic commitments. It’s a path that demands discipline and perseverance, but it also allows you to build friendships, discover new abilities, and develop life skills.

During the ceremony, Sharon Núñez, Director of Student Life, reminded attendees that the university experience extends far beyond classrooms and athletic achievements. In her remarks, she emphasized the value of the people, spaces, and experiences that accompany students throughout their education. She also acknowledged the role that the seniors have played as peers, friends, and leaders within the community.

Sharon invited the student-athletes to take with them the lessons and memories they had built during this time, reminding them that A-State will always be a place they can return to and feel at home.

The Red Wolves legacy continues beyond the uniform

One of the central messages of the ceremony was delivered by Axell Amaya, Director of Athletics and Sports Marketing, who invited the Seniors to cherish their last moments as representatives of their teams.

In his speech, he reflected on how, after years of training, matches, presentations, and travel, there comes a time when some of those experiences happen for the last time.

Beyond the scores or the results, he emphasized that what is truly important is what each student-athlete built during their journey: the ability to overcome difficulties, stand firm in the face of challenges, fulfill their responsibilities, and work towards shared goals.

He also emphasized that the discipline and standards developed as Red Wolves do not end with the final competition, but can accompany them throughout their professional careers, relationships, and the new challenges they will face.

His message prompted reflection on the meaning of representing an institution: the true legacy is not limited to the achievements attained, but is also found in the people who inspire others to follow in their footsteps.

A tribute to those who built this history

Senior Day also brought together Tadeo de la Garza, Head Football Coach, and Viridiana Silva, Head Coach of Cheer & Dance, who accompanied the recognition of the student-athletes who are about to say goodbye to their respective teams.

The ceremony opened a space for the Seniors to share words with their families, classmates, and coaches, acknowledging the moments that marked their university journey.

Senior Day Legacy

As part of the closing ceremony, the student-athletes lit sparklers in a symbolic moment representing the years of effort, discipline, and commitment dedicated to their teams. This gesture conveyed a special message: although their university athletic career has come to an end, the friendships, the lessons learned, and the legacy they built will remain long after their final competition.

The community anthem accompanied this recognition, reminding the Seniors that they will always be part of the Red Wolves’ history.
