Crystal Hernández, a senior from Querétaro and high school graduate from UCO received the prestigious Ricardo González Valdés Award for 2023, the highest achievement selected based on character, determination, involvement, and academic achievement.
Crystal is graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Biological Science, with a concentration in Pre-Professional Studies, and a Minor in Chemistry, and she plans to pursue a degree in Dental Surgery.
While an undergraduate, she engaged in several activities that would contribute to her achieving the goal of becoming a Doctor of Dental Surgery. She became an event facilitator for Future DMDs in Canada, and later she became one of its Board of Directors. She also became Director of the International Pre-Dental Student Alliance, a global community for pre-dental students.
She did internships at Elara Dental clinic in Cadereyta and at Lykins Family Dentistry in Georgia, USA. During her tenure at A-State, she co-founded Eco-Science, a student organization focused on recycling; and “Thrive” an organization focused on guiding students to pursue graduate studies. She also participated in research with various professors and volunteered as a tutor. She is committed to continue a path of service and develop a career that will inspire others to succeed.
